We recently shared this image from don Miguel Ruiz on our Facebook page, & a friend asked, “What does forgiveness feel like to the forgiver? Is is different from acceptance?”  Wow… Such a great question, isn’t it?

In our opinion, acceptance is part of forgiveness. In forgiving, we’re not accepting in the sense that we think what happened to us is acceptable or okay. We are accepting in the sense that we reconcile the facts of what happened; we can’t change it & wishing it was something different is futile & holds us in a negative space. Once we’ve accepted, we can forgive — in forgiving, we can let go of the negative feelings & thoughts associated with what happened.
